Golf where you already are

If you stay in Bang Tao, Laguna or Surin, this is the course you can reach before breakfast. Inside the Laguna complex, next to Banyan Tree and the beach.

02

Forgiving, not boring

The Paul Jansen redesign kept fairways wide for holiday swings but defended the greens, then the Asian Tour came in 2021 and proved the card can bite.

About the course

The west coast’s home course.

Laguna Golf Phuket sits inside Laguna Phuket, Asia’s first integrated destination resort, sharing its lagoons with Banyan Tree, Angsana, Dusit Thani and the rest of the complex. The original early-90s layout was completely rebuilt under designer Paul Jansen, reopening in 2015 as the par 71 played today.

Water threads through the round without strangling it: lagoon carries where the card needs teeth, width where holiday golfers need a break. In December 2021 the course hosted the Asian Tour’s Laguna Phuket Championship, won by Thailand’s Phachara Khongwatmai, which settled any argument about whether resort golf here is serious golf.

What the round involves

Three things that shape a Laguna round

No accounts, no fuss. Tell us what you want and we handle the course, the caddie and the cart.

01

Lagoons set the rhythm

Water appears early and returns often, but almost always beside the line rather than across it. Play your normal game and it photographs better than it punishes.

02

Greens are the test

The USGA-spec surfaces run quicker and truer than most island courses. Approach putts from the wrong tier are where the card leaks.

03

Five minutes from your towel

For west-coast stays this is the logistics win: morning round, lunch at the clubhouse, beach by two. Golf Hub’s simulator bays are minutes away for rainy days.

Before you pay

What's in the green fee, what isn't

Thailand does golf a little differently from the West. Here’s what’s usually bundled into the price — and the one thing first-timers always ask about.

In the green fee

  • 18 holes through the lagoons
  • Caddie fee, cash tip on top as usual
  • Cart on the standard rate
  • Range access varies by package, confirm at booking

Usually extra

  • + Caddie tip (cash, paid directly — see below)
  • + Club rental, shoes and glove
  • + Single-cart upgrade (one cart each)
  • + Transfers, food & drinks, insurance

About the caddie

Caddies are mandatory at Laguna and unusually polished, befitting the resort. The fee rides inside the green fee; the cash tip on top, commonly 300 to 500 THB, goes straight to your caddie. They will also save you at least two putts on the tiered greens.

Laguna questions

Who is Laguna best for?
Holiday golfers staying on the west coast. The course is forgiving off the tee, immaculately kept and minutes from the Bang Tao, Surin and Laguna hotels.
Has the course really hosted professionals?
Yes. The Asian Tour’s Laguna Phuket Championship was played here in December 2021, won by Phachara Khongwatmai at ten under.
What did the redesign change?
Paul Jansen’s rebuild, completed in 2015, redrew the routing as a par 71, rebuilt the greens to USGA specification and reworked the lagoon carries.
Is a caddie included?
The caddie fee is part of the standard rate; the cash tip, usually 300 to 500 THB, is paid directly to your caddie after the round.
Can beginners play here?
Comfortably. Wide landing areas and honest sightlines make it one of the kindest starts on the island; rental sets are available at the pro shop.
